This is my personal statement assignment on a challenge I faced in life and how I grew from it.

Here I have my Creative Nonfiction Language and Literacy essay and presentation where I talk about my relationship with Language and Literacy. I go into depth about why English has never been my favorite subject while in school and how I am trying to improve my Language and Literacy skills.

Here is my annotated bibliography and research proposal with the rough draft of my research essay and the final draft. In my essays, I talk about the effects of linguistic discrimination on immigrant children and how it affects their academic skills. Between the essays, you can see the improvements that I made, which separated them into categories on a rough draft and a final draft.

After my research essay on the effects of linguistic discrimination on immigrant children, we were instructed to create a scripted interview and record its audio based on our essay topic. I created a mock scripted interview where I interviewed two women who are Spanish-speaking immigrants who moved to the U.S. as children. I asked them about their experiences in school and how they shaped them into the people they are today.

This is my reflective writing piece/presentation where I talk about my growth as a writer and student throughout the semester, and I also reflect on my first semester of college.

My final topic paper is about Professor Anglin’s statement “Structural racism has been deemed as a fundamental cause of racial health inequities” and how uses different strategies of the social sciences to support her claim.
